How we build each research page
Cannabinoid Encyclopedia is a research index, not an inference engine. We gather published records, explain what each source reports in plain language, and give readers a direct path back to the research.
The function of this site
Show the research without turning it into a promise
A page gathers research connected to a compound or question, preserves the source's study type and context, and links to PubMed, a DOI, or another inspectable record. We use wording such as “studied in connection with” and “the researchers reported” because a source record is not automatically proof of effectiveness, safety, causation, or scientific consensus.
Research records
Relevant papers and authoritative records are organized around a specific compound, outcome, target, or safety question.
What the source says
Summaries stay attached to the compound, preparation, model, population, result, and limitations reported by the source.
The original trail
Source links let readers examine the underlying record. A backlink supports transparency; it is not an endorsement of every conclusion in the paper.
Four rules
What stays true on every page
Rule 1
Start with sources
Important statements link to the research used to write them, usually through PubMed, a DOI, or another primary record.
Rule 2
Keep study types separate
Research in people, animals, cells, chemistry, and biological mechanisms can answer different questions.
Rule 3
Keep the context
The compound, product, dose, route, population, study length, and outcome can change what a result means.
Rule 4
Show uncertainty
Mixed, early, indirect, or missing evidence is stated plainly. A large source list does not automatically mean a question is settled.

Start simple, then check the details
Read the short answer
The top of the page explains the question in plain language.
Check the evidence type
See whether the page includes human research, early-stage studies, or both.
Open the sources
Use numbered citations and the source list to inspect the original study.
Study results
A missing result is not a negative result
A result summary appears only when we can preserve the study's outcome, direction, population or model, intervention, comparator, and important limits from a linked source. We do not guess a result from a topic label.
A specific result was extracted
The summary describes what that study reported and links back to its source.
The study tested an outcome
The researchers did not detect a difference under the recorded conditions. That is a study result, not proof that an effect is impossible.
No result summary is shown
The source may still be relevant, but its result has not been represented precisely enough for this section.
Possibility language
Not established is not the same as shown not to work
When linked research reports a genuine positive signal, we may say a compound “may help” or “may have an effect,” while naming the evidence type and keeping the claim inside the studied model, product, population, and outcome. This wording communicates a supported possibility. It is not a promise, a treatment recommendation, or a substitute for human evidence.
Describe the possibility
A positive finding can support “may help” language when the same sentence makes clear whether the evidence comes from people, animals, cells, or another research setting.
Show both directions
Positive, null, and negative findings remain visible together. We do not flatten a mixed record into either a benefit claim or a dismissal.
Do not turn uncertainty into a verdict
“Not established” means the available evidence has not settled the question. It does not mean researchers have shown that an effect is absent.
Editorial review
Software can organize evidence; people decide what is published
Automated and AI-assisted tools may help find records, structure data, or draft source-linked language. They do not approve their own work. Human editorial review checks that a public statement has a source trail, identifies what kind of evidence it is, and does not extend beyond what the cited record reports.
Can the statement be inspected?
Important factual statements need a source link and enough locator detail to find the relevant support.
Does the wording stay inside the study?
Animal, cellular, mechanistic, formulation-specific, and human findings remain distinguishable.
Is uncertainty visible?
Conflicts, limitations, missing results, and insufficient evidence remain part of the public explanation.
Two publication lanes
A research-index record is not a verified compound profile
The cannabinoid directory contains full source-linked evidence guides and a separate set of candidate identity records. Candidate pages exist so readers can find the reported name, exact identity source, and support locator without our silently upgrading a literature report into independent chemistry verification.
Claim-backed public page
A full guide organizes approved source-linked claims and preserves study type, population or model, product identity, results, and limitations.
Identity review ongoing
A candidate page reports how cited chemical-identity research describes a named compound. It does not verify the structure or publish effects, safety, or dosing claims.
Identity verification
Verification requires its own recorded human review. Publishing a transparent candidate record does not satisfy or bypass that gate.
A candidate record must name a peer-reviewed identity source and a precise locator. It must meet the registry's automated evidence floor: at least one isolation-and-structure source or two independent authenticated-standard detections. Meeting that floor makes a record reviewable; it does not make it verified.
A living encyclopedia
Research changes, so pages change too
New studies can add detail, change confidence, or correct an older idea. We update pages as the literature grows and welcome precise source suggestions and corrections.
Scope and limits
Education, not personal medical advice
Cannabinoid Encyclopedia explains published research. It does not diagnose, prescribe, recommend a dose, or tell a person to use a product. Health decisions involving medications, pregnancy, children, driving, serious symptoms, or diagnosed conditions deserve professional medical guidance.
